S30908 is an austenitic chromium nickel stainless steel, corresponding to the Unified Numbering System (UNS) designation in the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards, commonly referred to as 309S stainless steel or AISI 309S. In the Chinese National Standard (GB/T), the new grade is 06Cr23Ni13 and the old grade is 0Cr23Ni13. This material is a low-carbon improved version of 309 stainless steel, which significantly improves its welding performance by controlling the carbon content at a lower level (≤ 0.08%), reduces the precipitation of carbides in the welding heat affected zone, and effectively reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion (welding erosion).
